Every weekend for the past four school years I have been at a different church every Sunday ministering to people through music. This particular church had a Valentines banquet this past Saturday so we sang a few love songs for them! I sang Elvis' song Can't Help Falling in Love. Later, a woman came up to me with tears in her eyes saying, "The song you sang was mine and my husband's song since we started dating." Her silver hair and fine wrinkles told me that the song had sprung up long forgotten memories. But she continued saying, "My husband died two weeks ago! But you all coming and singing really blessed me, so thank you!"
It is unreal how many stories are sitting out in a congregation! You never know what people are going through and how the words will speak to them! Though I may sing these songs a million times, it's always the first time for every place we go.. This was just one of those beautiful reminders that what I get to be part of is powerful!
I am not gonna lie, when I first saw my mic with my name on it... I kinda freaked out a little. :)
My weekends are normally spent with perfect strangers! Once in a while I strike gold, and Miss Thelma absolutely falls into that category! She spoke so much wisdom into me--We talked for three hours and it felt like I had known her forever. She's so driven and talented, I just have to show you what this incredible woman can do!!!
Yes, these PAINTED these people!!
She said this was probably her favorite painting!
It's clear why!! Look at THAT!!
How did she do these!?
She was kind enough to let me photograph some of these to show you all! Is't she amazing!?!? Look how beautiful this woman is!
So, Madison and I were rooming together and the next morning she realized she forgot her toothbrush... She looks at me while I'm brushing my teeth and asks, "Can I use yours?"
I could have done a spit take.
Anybody that knows me well at all knows I'm a germaphobe!
That would be a nightmare for me...
Above are my teammates that I get to travel and sing with every week!
They are unbelievably talented and I could not be more honest in saying that I can't believe I get to be a part of such an incredible team! There is just so much joy and love among us. Just this past weekend a woman said, "Seeing you guys joke and have fun is so encouraging to see how much you all love each other." After hearing comments like that, I am just so thankful for a team that so obviously cares for one another!
And then back to school Sunday evening!
Thanks for reading!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! :)
