I had three different conversations yesterday. They were three incredible conversations that left me inspired. They only happened because of a conscious decision to shift my attention off Instagram and straying from my original plan for the day.
The first was a woman that encouraged me so much in so little time. She is not bound by excuses or fear! She has kids my age, but unlike most, she doesn't fit some mold that society attempts to shrink us down to! After I hung up and heard of all her dreams and plans, I was so inspired! But that firey spirit of hers is one that I truly admire and hope we all can learn from!
Francis Chan writes in his book, You & Me Forever, that a runner who comes to the end of his race sprints the last stretch of their race. They want to make the best time possible and the satisfaction of finishing the race with everything they've got! Well, shouldn't life be the exact same!?! People get to the tail end of their lives around 70-80 and stay within their family bubbles. They are just waiting to die because they've got no "what's next?" but death. But for Christians it's not that morbid. That's because a Christ follower knows that they are about to come face-to-face with God and they want to fit in as much as they can into their last stretch as possible! Christians believe that whatever we do in this life has reward for all eternity!
My second conversation was with an old friend that I've not even seen in years! But she is one of those that I also admire! She has graduated our school and went on to write a book and pursue her calling! She was one of those people that you could pin as someone who would go write a book or head up a conference! But I was reminded in this conversation the unity we have in Christ. He binds us together and it felt like we hadn't missed a beat because of our similar goal to bless the Lord with the callings He's given us! I just love passionate people who chase their calling because they spur me on to do the same!
My third conversation was actually with the girl who inspired me to choose joy... She is one that carries the joy of the Lord with her at all times even when it doesn't make sense! She's one of the most caring and generous people I've ever had the privilege of knowing! When I talked to her, she told me she'd be feeling sick, but she was so quick to love on me, pray for me, and encourage me even on an off day!
I'm so inspired, encouraged, and excited by these incredible women that God is working through. But yesterday I woke up with an expectancy! I woke up declaring to God that I was going to choose joy. And throughout the day He told me, "Kenzie, this thing you're calling joy is actually you just taking your focus on the things that frustrate you and putting your focus on Me." Joy is just the result of putting my mind on the Lord and His constance! And I truly resonated with the truth:
No one can take your joy; you give it away.
Because my joy is the Lord. And my joy is constant!
So I want to encourage you to have meaningful conversations today! Cause they'll leave you feeling inspired and spurred on to run your race well! Carve time out of an ordinary, planned day and put down the phone!
Choose joy! Chose to focus on the Supplier of it.
